Yvonne Miranda

YVONNE MIRANDA (she/her), a Marine Corps Operation Iraqi Freedom war veteran, traded in her combat boots for a career in live entertainment after graduating with an M.F.A. in Stage Design from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University. Her passion for visual storytelling has led to a diverse array of work that has been seen across the country. As a member of Design Action, she is an advocate for uplifting more diversity behind the scenes for people of color, LGBTQA+, those with disabilities (herself included), pay transparency/equality, adequate resources, support, and education that she hopes will foster in a change that sees theatre accessible to all as well as more stories that focus on POC's joy instead of their trauma.

A Texan who now resides in the Chicago, IL area, she has several exciting productions and projects in the works across the U.S., including features in the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, TX past exhibit titled The Great Stage of Texas, Scene Shift U.S. Set Designers in Conversation & in a recent article by American Theatre Magazine: Role Call -6 Theatre Workers You Should Know. She is a member of USA Local 829, I.A.T.S.E., and was recently nominated for a Helen Hayes Outstanding Costume Design Award for her work on Woolly Mammoth Theatre & Baltimore Center Stage Theatre's co-production of Ain't No Mo'.
