John Giampietro
John Giampietro is a Director of theatre & opera. He is the resident Stage Director for the Chautauqua Institution Festival of Music Voice Program, where he has staged over fifteen operas including La bohème, Der Rosenkavalier, and Ariodante. He is a lifetime member of Ensemble Studio Theater, where he is a frequent director with the Obie-winning playwrights’ program, Youngblood, and a three-time director in the EST Marathon of One-Act plays. John is a faculty member in the vocal arts division at the Juilliard School where he teaches Acting. He is also a founding member of The Director Collective, an organization dedicated to director-driven work. John’s writing includes three plays: The M. of Versailles, The Immolation of Kathy Chang(e), and Strength of God. He has also written a new version of Mozart’s The Impresario for Shenandoah Conservatory of Music, and a new English dialogue version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute for the Chautauqua Institution Festival of Music. John’s productions have been seen at Ensemble Studio Theater, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Serials at The Flea, the Juilliard School, Curtis Institute of Music, and Phoenix Theater, among others.
