Luis S. Cañete

Luis S. Canete, CSA is an LA-based American casting director and proud member of the Casting Society of America that works in Los Angeles, New York, and Europe. Luis and his team are currently casting feature films High Adventure, Unusual Cowboys, Hush Money, Ring Cave, and Honorary Male, amongst others. Recent projects include theatrically-released feature Remember Me (star. Bruce Dern & Brian Cox - Universal Pictures), European film Africa, television series Magi (Amazon Prime), and television series The Infiltrator (Warner Bros/Eyeworks). Luis also worked as the International Casting Director for European series Glow & Darkness (star. Jane Seymour) and the feature Little America. He did additional principal casting of Duck Butter (Netflix), mini-series docudrama Six Wives with Lucy Worsley (BBC), and television series Evermoor (Disney).  Additionally, Luis and his team cast over 200+ principal roles between London and Spain for the English language RTVE mini-series, Queens: Virgin & Martyr (Amazon Prime). He is fortunate to have been the Casting Associate on the Oscar®-nominated HBO film, Maria Full of Grace.

At the beginning of his career, Luis worked with and learned from legendary casting directors Donna DeSeta, CSA, and Maria E. Nelson, Ellyn Marshall & Carlyn Davis, CSA as well as the iconic Central Casting in New York. He holds a BA in Theater with a focus on Acting & Directing from George Mason University, and studied Final Cut Pro Editing at the Manhattan Edit Workshop. He has extensive training and experience in production and has worked on films such as Super Troopers, Knight & Day, and The Cold Light of Day. He has produced video content for the Moving Pictures Video Lounge at the TriBeCa Film Festival.

Luis is proud to have recently written, directed, and produced his first short film, Sad Sally's Peering Plan.
